Buy a Phone This Diwali or Wait for December Launches?

By Phone Spec Hub · · 3 min read

Diwali falls on 8 November 2026, and the sales are live. The big question for buyers is whether to buy a phone this Diwali or wait for December launches. New flagships are queued up, but several have slipped, and some will cost far more than the models on sale now. Here is the launch calendar from Smartprix's November 2026 roundup, and what it means for your budget.

What is launching and when

PhoneStatusTipped / expected price
Karbonn Rebel / Rebel ProLaunched 2 Nov₹11,999 / ₹12,499
Motorola Signature 27Confirmed 5 NovEstimates ₹69,999 to ₹89,999
Vivo X500 seriesTipped late Nov, BIS certifiedBase about ₹65,000-₹70,000
Xiaomi 18 ProConfirmed for India, date unclearNot announced
iQOO 16Tipped 15-17 DecNot announced
OnePlus 16 / 16RTipped Dec or JanNot announced

Only the Karbonn pair and the Motorola Signature 27 have locked dates. The rest are rumours, so do not plan a purchase around them. See our Motorola Signature 27 launch article and Vivo X500 India launch article for more.

Buy now if your budget is under ₹30,000

Most launches in the next few weeks are premium. Budget buyers will not see a big new wave soon, and Diwali bank offers are the best discount you will get this season. Amazon's Diwali edition, for example, lists the iPhone 16 from ₹68,999 and the Galaxy S25 Ultra at an effective ₹86,999 with bank offers, according to Gadgets 360. Consider waiting if you want a 2026 flagship

The Motorola Signature 27 is tipped to be the first phone with Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, and the Vivo X500 line is camera focused. If you want that class of phone, waiting a few weeks makes sense. One caution from Smartprix: memory and component costs have pushed flagship prices up, so the new phones may cost noticeably more than last year's models.

The middle path: discounted current flagships

The iQOO 15 had festive offers on Amazon, including up to ₹8,000 off via a bank card, per 91mobiles. When new models arrive, older flagships such as the iQOO 15 and OnePlus 15 often become better value. If you do not need the newest chip, a discounted current flagship is a safe pick.

Should you wait or buy?

  • Budget under ₹30,000: buy during Diwali sales.
  • ₹30,000-₹50,000: buy now unless a specific launch interests you; see best phones under ₹50,000.
  • Above ₹65,000: wait until the Signature 27 price on 5 November and the Vivo X500 price are known, then compare with discounted older flagships.
