POCO M8x 5G review: price in India, 7,900mAh battery

By Phone Spec Hub · · 4 min read

The POCO M8x 5G price in India sits just under ₹21,000, and the phone is built around one idea: a huge 7,900mAh battery. It is also the first phone in India with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 chip, according to a Free Press Journal review published on 27 October 2026. Here is what that review found, and who should buy it.

POCO M8x 5G price in India

The Free Press Journal lists the 4GB RAM + 128GB model at ₹18,999 and the 6GB + 128GB model at ₹20,999. Street prices move with sales, so check Amazon and Flipkart before paying. Other trackers show it a little lower at times, and Flipkart's listing mentions a ₹1,000 SBI card offer. Treat those as changing offers, not fixed prices.

Battery life: the real reason to buy

The reviewer says the battery comfortably lasts a day and a half with heavy use, and about two days with typical use. A 45W charger is in the box, which is useful for a cell this large, though a full charge still takes longer than on smaller phones. Reverse wired charging at 22.5W lets you top up an accessory. POCO claims the battery keeps 80 percent or more of its capacity after five years; that is the company's claim, not something the review tested.

Display and design

The 6.9-inch panel is smooth at 120Hz, but 720p stretched over that size works out to roughly 254 pixels per inch, so small text looks soft. There is no HDR. Widevine L1 does allow HD streaming. The Leather Green version has a vegan leather back that gives good grip, while the blue and black models use matte plastic. At 232g it is heavy, and the phone is wide for small hands. You still get a 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo speakers.

Performance and camera

On Geekbench 7.1.0 the review unit scored 689 single-core and 1,083 multi-core. The same reviewer's Redmi Note 17 Pro scored 876 and 2,605, so the M8x is clearly entry-level. Calls, UPI, streaming and casual games are fine; heavy multitasking and demanding 3D games will push it. The reviewer recommends the 6GB model.

The 50MP camera gives natural, slightly muted colours in daylight. Fine detail gets smudgy when you zoom in, there is no optical stabilisation, and video tops out at 1080p at 30fps. The reviewer did not judge low light but expects it to be weak.

Software and extras

The M8x ships with HyperOS 3 on Android 16. The review calls the interface stripped back, with no blur effects and subtler animations to keep it smooth on this chip. You get HyperIsland, Xiaomi's device-sharing tools, AI editing features such as AI Erase, AI Expand and AI Sky, plus Gemini. Some apps and games come pre-installed, but most can be uninstalled. The stereo speakers are loud, and the box includes a 45W charger, a cable, a protective case and a pre-applied screen protector, which saves a small extra spend.

Rivals to compare

The reviewer names the iQOO Z11 Lite, realme P4R and OnePlus N6x as lighter and sharper alternatives. Other listings put realme P4R 5G at around ₹19,940 and the POCO M8 Power 5G at around ₹21,675 on 91mobiles, with a similar 8,000mAh battery. If screen sharpness matters more than battery size, one of these may suit you better.

Should you buy it?

Buy the POCO M8x 5G if you want a phone that lasts two days, gets long software support, and costs under ₹21,000. Skip it if you read a lot on screen, shoot in low light or want a light phone.
