OnePlus 16R India Launch, Price and Specs (Leaked)
The OnePlus 16R India launch is now being talked about as a near-certainty by tipsters, even though OnePlus itself has said nothing. According to 91mobiles, which cited tipster Debayan Roy (Gadgetsdata) on 2 November 2026, the 16R is "definitely" in development for India, while the bigger OnePlus 16 is described as "almost confirmed". None of this is official, so treat every number below as a leak.
If you are saving up for an upper-premium OnePlus, this is the phone to watch. Here is what has been reported so far, what is still contradictory, and whether it makes sense to wait.
OnePlus 16R India launch date: what we know
There is no launch date. Neither OnePlus 16R nor OnePlus 16 has an official India confirmation yet. A second tipster, Abhishek Yadav, claims OnePlus is testing global software for the flagship under model numbers CPH2901, CPH2903 and CPH2905, and that availability could be limited to India and a few other Asian markets, per 91mobiles.
The OnePlus Ace 7 series launched in China on 29 October 2026 with 9,000mAh batteries and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipsets. 91mobiles notes that this series could be the base for the Indian 16R, and GSMArena reported that some believe the vanilla Ace 7 will be rebadged as the OnePlus 16R outside China. That is a rumour, not a fact.
OnePlus 16R leaked specifications
The leaks do not fully agree. Roy earlier said the phone would have a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, a 200MP main camera, a 50MP 3.5x periscope telephoto, a display of up to 185Hz and a battery close to 9,000mAh. Another leak points to a triple 50MP rear camera, a 165Hz display and a battery above 7,500mAh. Only the chipset is common to both.
| Detail | Leak 1 (Roy) | Leak 2 |
|---|---|---|

| Telephoto | 50MP, 3.5x periscope | 50MP (triple 50MP setup) |

OnePlus 16R expected price in India
Roy expects the 16R to cost around ₹70,000 to ₹75,000. That is a big jump. The OnePlus 13R was a value flagship, and, according to 91mobiles, the OnePlus 15R started at ₹47,999 in India. The OnePlus 15 launched at ₹85,999. A ₹70,000-plus 16R would sit much closer to the numbered flagship than earlier R phones did.
What about the OnePlus 16?
The OnePlus 16 is already official in China. It started at CNY 5,999 (about ₹86,000) for 12GB + 256GB, with a 6.78-inch LTPO OLED display, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip, a 9,000mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, and a 200MP main camera, according to 91mobiles. For India, Roy estimates ₹1.3 lakh to ₹1.4 lakh, which is unconfirmed and far above the Chinese price. We have a separate page on the OnePlus 16 India launch.
How the 16R could differ from the OnePlus 15R
Going by the reports above, the biggest changes would be a dedicated periscope telephoto camera (the 15R has a 50MP main and an 8MP ultrawide, no telephoto, per 91mobiles) and a much larger battery. The trade-off is price. 91mobiles itself points out that a ₹70,000 to ₹75,000 starting price would be a substantial jump for the R series, and that a telephoto lens and bigger battery are what could justify it.
There is also a gaming angle. GSMArena says the Ace 7 pair was announced with cooling fans and 185Hz displays, and the OnePlus 16R is said to focus on high-frame-rate gaming. Whether the cooling fan survives into an India model is not known.
Why the India plan matters
The OnePlus 16 is reportedly being considered for India at a far higher price than the OnePlus 15, which would make the 16R the only sub-₹80,000 option in the lineup if it arrives. That is why buyers in the ₹60,000 to ₹80,000 range are following this leak closely.
Should you wait or buy now?
If you want a OnePlus flagship this Diwali week, the OnePlus 15 is already on sale and its price is known. Compare it with the older OnePlus 13R if you want something cheaper. The 16R has no date, an unclear spec sheet and a price that may be ₹20,000 or more above the 15R's launch price, so waiting only makes sense if you are not in a hurry.
