Galaxy S27 Charging Speed Stuck at 25W: What We Know
The Galaxy S27 charging speed looks set to stay at 25W, the same figure the base Galaxy S has offered since 2020. That is according to two safety certificates reported by Sammy Fans, and it has annoyed a lot of buyers who see Chinese rivals shipping 100W phones. Samsung has not announced the S27, so everything here is leak-based and unconfirmed.
Galaxy S27 charging speed: what the certificates say
Sammy Fans reports that two UL Solutions (Demko) certificates in Denmark, issued on October 23, classify a device called the Galaxy S27 and rate it at 9V and 2.77A. That works out to about 24.93W, which Samsung markets as 25W. The paperwork covers ten SM-S952 model variants, including the US, Europe, South Korea, Japan and China versions, and all carry the same rating.
China's 3C database reportedly showed the same 9V and 2.77A profile in early September. Sammy Fans points out that the Galaxy S26 FE, announced on August 27, is listed at 45W, which is faster than the flagship above it.
Galaxy S27 series charging and battery leaks
The table shows certified charging speeds and rumoured battery sizes from the same report. Battery capacities are unconfirmed.
| Model | Wired charging | Battery (rumoured) |
|---|---|---|
| Galaxy S27 | 25W | About 4,900mAh |
| Galaxy S27 Plus | 45W | Not reported |
| Galaxy S27 Pro | 60W | About 5,200mAh |
| Galaxy S27 Ultra | 60W | About 5,700mAh |
The Galaxy S26 has a 4,300mAh battery and the S26 Ultra has 5,000mAh, per the same source. So the Ultra's rumoured jump is around 14%. Only the new Pro would be a real charging upgrade at 60W, since the Plus and Ultra match their predecessors. Read more in our Galaxy S27 Pro leak guide.
How does 25W compare with rivals?
Sammy Fans lists the Xiaomi 17 at 100W with a 6,330mAh battery, the Oppo Find X9 Ultra at 100W with 7,050mAh, and the OnePlus 15 at up to 120W in some regions. One database counts 73 phones at 100W or faster. On paper a 100W phone charges about four times faster, although bigger batteries make a direct comparison imperfect.
Independent tests quoted by the same site found the Galaxy S26 needs just over an hour for a full charge at 25W, and the S27 is expected to behave similarly. Certificates show maximum rated input, not the full charging curve, so 25W is a planning number.
Will a better chip help battery life?
A more efficient chip can stretch the time between charges but cannot shorten a charge. Sammy Fans says most regions are expected to get the Exynos 2700 in the base S27, with a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 version rumoured for the US. Battery estimates online come from simulators, not tested phones.
Neither certificate mentions wireless charging. The S26 supports up to 15W wireless, so that is the working assumption.
Galaxy S27 launch date
Samsung has given no date. The S25 series arrived in late January 2025 and the S26 series in late February 2026, so January or February 2027 is the likely window according to Sammy Fans.
Should you wait for the Galaxy S27?
If fast charging matters most, the S27 base model will not be your phone, and you may prefer the Plus, the Pro or a Chinese flagship. If you want a Samsung now, last year's Galaxy S24 and the Galaxy S26 Ultra are available, and festive discounts are live. See our Diwali phone deals.
Key takeaways for Indian buyers
- The base Galaxy S27 is certified at about 25W, unchanged from the Galaxy S26, according to Sammy Fans.
- The Plus is listed at 45W, while the Pro and Ultra are listed at 60W.
- A bigger battery is rumoured for the S27 line, which may improve how long it lasts between charges, but charging time would stay around an hour.
- Nothing is official. Samsung may still change specifications before launch, and India pricing has not leaked.
- If fast charging is a priority, compare with 100W phones from Xiaomi and Oppo before the S27 arrives early next year.
