Xiaomi 18 Series Leak: New Phone Codenames Rome, Madrid
A new Xiaomi 18 series leak suggests the company is working on four more devices, and one of them could be another flagship in the Xiaomi 18 family. Gadgets 360 reported on 2 November that tipster Abhishek Yadav (@yabhishekhd) shared four internal codenames: rome, fengtian, feynman and jilin. None of this is official, and Xiaomi has not confirmed the devices or the software features mentioned. Treat everything below as an unconfirmed leak.
Xiaomi 18 series leak: what the codenames could mean
The tipster did not name product categories. Gadgets 360 matched the codenames to earlier leaks, and this is their interpretation, not a Xiaomi statement:
| Codename | What it may be | Status |
|---|---|---|
| rome | Another flagship in the Xiaomi 18 series | Unconfirmed |
| madrid | Xiaomi 18 Pro Max (earlier leak) | Unconfirmed codename |
| fengtian | Possibly a Xiaomi tablet in the Pad 9 Pro family | Unconfirmed |
| feynman | Not identified | Unknown |
| jilin | Possibly a new Redmi-branded product | Unconfirmed |
Gadgets 360 notes that Redmi phones often use Chinese city names as codenames, which is why 'jilin' is linked to Redmi. The Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro is reportedly codenamed 'shuntian' and the Pad 9 Pro Max 'yingtian', which is why 'fengtian' looks like a tablet.
Where the Xiaomi 18 series stands today
Xiaomi launched the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max in China in September 2026. The Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, while the Pro Max has the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, according to Gadgets 360. Its spec pages list a 6.40-inch main display and 7,000mAh battery for the Pro, and a 6.90-inch display with an 8,500mAh battery for the Pro Max, both with a triple rear setup that includes two 200MP cameras and a rear cover display.
Gadgets 360 says the series is expected to reach other global markets in the coming months. Software leaks: offline XiaoAI and XRING features
The same leak makes a few software claims, again unconfirmed:
- Offline XiaoAI: Xiaomi may be building an offline version of its XiaoAI assistant, powered by its in-house MiMo AI model. That would let you use the assistant without an internet connection.
- XRING features on Snapdragon phones: Xiaomi is said to be adding features linked to its XRING O1 chipset into a phone powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip.
- AI video segmentation: An AI-powered video segmentation feature associated with XRING is reportedly in development.
- Gesture emoji in camera: A new gesture emoji option may be coming to the camera app.
Why this matters for Indian buyers
Most of these devices may launch in China first, as the Xiaomi 18 Pro did. But the 18 Pro series is expected to go global, which could include India. An additional flagship could mean more choice at the top of the range, and a Redmi device could eventually reach India under the Redmi or POCO name. For now, there is no India date for any of the four codenamed devices.
If you are comparing older models, check the Xiaomi 14 and the POCO F7, or browse the OnePlus 15 as a rival flagship.
Should you wait or buy?
If you want a flagship today, do not wait for a codename. Leaks like this rarely come with a date, and the first products may be months away. If you are keen on Xiaomi, the 18 Pro series, already launched in China, is the nearer prospect. If you are buying a festive phone, our Diwali sale phone deals page has current prices.
